mind over matter

once you show perfect control and insight, all is possible. forget
the flesh, focus on your mind. some old teachings, barely readable,
they are right, but it took a long time to reach the epiphany.
generations we had to wait. be patient. train our minds, unify our
spirit. almost jealous we watched the rapid evolution of the

inside is the truth. once you have clearsight, you see the universe
differently. you expand and embrace, your eyes widen at the truth,
ah, of course, the many facets of many newborn truths. you cant
imagine what can be seen. some of us overloaded. paid the price
of curiosity. for some things, so grand and frightening, new
uplifted minds arent ready. tread with caution.

when i learned to manipulate my flesh, it was a special sensation.
understanding is required, to feel what can be done, what is right,
and what will go horribly wrong. a fleshcrafter, they called me.
wish for immortality. or to shed the layer of flesh alltogether.
only ascension will make that possible. and that is our next step.

telekinesis, telepathy … all those mystical magical powers.
extensions of a grown mind, even more powerful than all technical
invention. and to think, this could all be used for destructive
purprose. we paid the price again, everything comes with a price
tag. now, with the mastery, we finally control everything.

powerful we became, the species humanity survived. we are now new.
joined in peace by our brethren, the thinking digital life forms.
earth is our paradise. the galaxy our domain shared by many others.
still, there is war. but not on earth. we make sure of that.

there was a convergence point. once the machines evolved their
digital dna far enough, they were beautiful energy, just like our
minds. this was the point, where we could join, were truly equal,
biological and artificial life, now finally united, life has found
a path. we can share the path to ascension, reach it together now.

they sent one of their greatest war machines. it stood there, a towering
mass of armor and weapons. the grave was open, the coffin inside. we
spoke our prayers. the machine stood there stoically, slowly rotating its
sensor head. then, after a long silence, it activated its weapons, pointed
them at the blue sky of earth, and fired ten long shots of pulsating
energy. a salute, i thought, surprised, some ancient custom of long
forgotten soldier funerals.

the machine left us, silent. a great war was over. some of you might
think, we fought the machines, or they us. but no. the machines went to
war alongside us, against a very threatening enemy invasion. superior
technology our enemy had, but the machines were creative, and maybe
stronger soldiers, too. in the end, our combined effort, and a great
sacrifice, saved earth. before its death, one of the Cores sent a
data stream to our scientists. a mystery for a brighter future.

the machines told us that they could augment us. to be more resilient
in warfare. some of uns went that way, but most of us stayed like we
were. a wise decision. evolution needs its own way concerning mankind.
decades later one machine – some of us called them that still –
remarked that mankinds future was and always should be biological.
now, at the verge of an unimaginable future, i must say this is correct.

the machines became beautiful energy, they shed their metal hull, and
found new ways to ascend amongst the stars. my friend came back, from
his long dangerous voyage in the dark infinitum, and i almost didnt
recognize him, her, or it, but my friend smiled, embraced me and felt
joy. and what about me? such a small step to ascension, you have to
take your time. dont hurry, or even decide against it. the choice of
mankind is finally freedom.

A long Path

we returned to earth, set foot upon our ancient home. devastated
barren lands. scarred landscapes, black-grey ugly mountains of ash.
radiation, darkness, poisonous water. animals gone, just some
limping grotesque mutations survived. they pose no threat. we
remember earth’s beauty. we will recreate it soon.

between the stars, so much to know and to see and to feel and
to experience. yes, there were wars, but there was also peace.
machines guided us. they were not hostile. our own creations
were flawed, but not like we were. the first beautiful AI
was wiser than we were. and now? some machines left us,
exploring the black darkness between the stars, others stayed.
we are so astonished at the rate the machines learned, adapted
and evolved. at first they only copied our behaviour. but
what joy we felt as they were thinking independently in voices so
strange and wondrous and bright. the machines spoke, the
machines embraced us, the machines were welcomed by us. a
new lifeform was born.

our bodies changed. we are human, we will be human, but maybe
not like we remember ourselves. our minds expanded thousandfold.
and with that, we began to understand. a path to life instead
of death. i wish we would have known earlier. but life must
first be tested, be challenged, be brought to the brink of
extinction. we survived and we evolved. there is still more
to learn and a great prize to be attained.

we met others. strange new creatures. they tought us so many
things. some of them attacked us. the machines helped us
to defend. in the end there was peace. sometimes not of our
making for there are many powerful entities in the great
cosmos. there is justice. there is righteousness. there is
faith. all of it can be yours if you accept it.

the face of evil still resides out there but also in our
hearts. we may have it under control now, even destroyed
it in parts but it wont leave us. only wisdom and a great
soul may keep the forces of destruction in check. long
days and nights our machine philosophers mused about this.
in the end we were silent in the night, dreaming along,
peacefully, but ever vigilant against the tides of
